Chemistry Support

The issue isn't access to tools.

Students have access to drop-in tutoring, YouTube, and AI, and yet the majority still struggle. Students don't need more tools. They need an expert who can see where they're stuck and a coach who builds the strategies that fit how they learn.

Coaching

A head start on your STEM career.

Career direction, application prep, and professional skills, built years before you need them. By the time admissions committees and recruiters start comparing candidates, you're the one who started early.

A decade of teaching. A career of chemistry.

Case Study: Shannon B's Story

A brilliant pre-professional unsure of how to succeed in chemistry and which direction to go after.

On Arrival

Shannon came in borderline burned out, studying 30+ hours a week for organic chemistry and scraping by with a C−, with an exam already looming.

Three sessions in, the real problem surfaced: she was intelligent and passionate about chemistry, but couldn't connect concepts to the structures on the page, and the ripple effect was setting her up to fail.

The Improvement

We rebuilt her conceptual foundation while preparing with test-level questions, on a session structure that fit her schedule. By week 3 she was studying less and scoring higher, lifting her grade to a B+.

“Oh my God I have the highest grade.” Shannon · week 7, midterm #2 · 169/175, class median 145

Career Help

Midway through the semester, Shannon wasn't sure whether she wanted a PhD in chemistry or a PharmD. We talked both paths through, and I connected her with my pharmacist contact so she could hear about the field firsthand.

She confidently picked pharmacy, with a decision she owned instead of a default she drifted into.

Hear what past students have to say

I don't have enough positive things to say about Dr. Wolfson! Besides having a true talent for teaching and explaining complex topics, he is also very flexible and available to work with your schedule. He truly supported me in my learning of OChem! He helped me solidify topics I was confused on, as well as prepared me for future topics in my class. I 10/10 recommend Dr. Wolfson and know he can help you too! I think his virtual platform was very accessible and convenient to use, and he really maximized his time with every session we had, not to mention fast responses to last-minute questions I would send him!

Riley D. Organic Chemistry I · Pre-med
Finished with an A

Eric was the best teacher I have ever had in any subject. I always left a session with a significantly better understanding of the topic than I entered with, and he was always able to answer my questions in full detail that was easy to understand and digest. In our sessions, we usually worked through problem sets and practice tests and he was always able to identify concepts I needed to work on. He also offered some valuable career advice! Eric was a large contributor to my success in organic chemistry and made learning it very enjoyable.

Meet your coach: Dr. Eric Wolfson

I earned my PhD in Organic Chemistry from The Ohio State University and my B.S. from UMBC. After my doctorate, I performed research for companies like DuPont as a Senior Scientist, where I served as a member of hiring panels, mentor to junior scientists, and supervisor of technicians. I left to start this company after seeing the gap between what students think they need to thrive in chemistry and what they actually bring.

I use my knowledge of what chemistry careers actually look like to build the next generation of STEM professionals into their best selves.

“Students don't leave STEM because they aren't capable. They leave because they aren't properly supported.”

Questions families ask first.

What is My Chem Mentor?
My Chem Mentor is one-on-one chemistry tutoring and pre-professional coaching led by Dr. Eric Wolfson, a PhD organic chemist. Sessions are virtual, and the work ranges from rescuing a single course to guiding a multi-year path toward professional school.
Who do you work with?
Mostly university STEM and pre-health students on pre-med, pre-vet, pre-pharmacy, pre-dental, and pre-optometry tracks, plus high school students in standard, honors, AP, and IB chemistry.
How does virtual tutoring work?
Sessions run 60 minutes on a shared virtual whiteboard. You bring the exam, mechanism, or topic; you work through it live with me, and you get a written follow-up after each session.
What makes this different from a regular tutor?
Dr. Wolfson holds a PhD in organic chemistry and spent four-plus years as an industry scientist before teaching full time. With roughly 2,000 hours of one-on-one teaching, he has seen your exact mistake before and knows the fastest way through it.
How do I get started?
Book a free 30-minute consultation. There is no commitment; it is a conversation about where you are and whether My Chem Mentor is the right fit.
